Here are some “essential” sites

• Beautiful climing spots in the Parc National du Mercantour (summer) : la Cougourde (2912 m), la Madone des Fenestre (2413 m), le Gélas (3143 m), le mont Clapier (3045 m), le Ténibre (3021 m). 
• The wide range of routes suitable for beginners and training in the chalk foothills of Grasse and l’Estéron, in particular the Baou de Saint-Jeannet.
• The numerous chalk or quartz cliffs in the Vallée de la Roya, which also offer some great mountain routes open all year round: Mesces, Castillon, Sospel (Baou de la Nieya), Breil-sur-Roya, La Brigue and Tende (site of the Arimonda).
• Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage: climbing on the "Rocher de Junic". This south-facing site is composed of grey limestone and overlooks the village. It provides a range of routes in 2 sectors starting at grade 4A.
• Isola 2000 - Site de Belvédère: 10 equipped climbing routes going from grade 3 to grade 6A/6B.
• Saint-Martin-Vésubie: mountain routes at the level of la Cougourde and la Madone des Fenestres. There are also two developed sites: Le Trou du Diable (44 routes/ from 6b to 7b+ / chalk) and the site of Salèse (15 routes / 3+ to 6a / chalk).
• Belvédère, two climbing sites around the entrance to the Parc National du Mercantour : la cascade du Ray (6 routes) and the Dalles du Castellaras (12 routes).
• Lantosque, network of listed routes to the hamlet of Saint-Colomban (23 routes / from 6a+ to 7 / chalk).
• Between Entraunes and Estenc, a climbing site (4a+ to 7 / chalk).
• Roubion, a pretty site, renovated in 2006, with thirty routes from 3+ to 7b.
