Near the small mediaeval village of Roure on the edge of the Mercantour National Park, Arboretum Marcel Kroenlein overlooks the Tinée Valley. It covers more than 6 hectares with a wide range of vegetation. Alpine trees stand side by side with flora from lower altitude zones since the Arboretum reflects both Mediterranean and Alpine influences. The site’s relief and Southern exposure create a microclimate ideal for more exotic species and features mountain trees from all over the world.

Les Chemins de Fer de Provence offers regular rail service between Nice and Puget-Théniers year round. This traditional railcar runs through the valleys Nice and Puget-Théniers along much of the Var River regardless of weather conditions.
Excursions with a period steam engine
From mid-May to mid-October on Sundays, Les Chemins de Fer de Provence provides service between Puget-Théniers and Annot with a recently refurbished steam locomotive built in 1909 (a listed historic monument) for a 1-hour trip at a speed of 20km/h, with wooden benches and open platform… (journey from Nice to Puget-Théniers possible in a traditional railcar with special timetable).
